Tectonic Touch (January)

from hall to bedroom
        strike-slipping Pahn
through gray air
opens his mind
momentarily
          to breathe

teal spread
            straight white hair
opalescent
                        silverfish face

embryonic suggestion
waves through viscous stone
beating against
his solid core —
a measurable
refraction
     rumbling muscle
and hair

the moist
and fabric
young woman
tracks his eyes
like visual inside out
burrowing into him

his mouth wavers
in suddenly unleashed jaw
drawing her across the room
to ask similarity
and cotton slides
smoothly
sloughing to
fibers

laying heavy
layered bone
entangling physical love phrases
of damp surface
fingers creep
to strong dewy ridges

her edge of concern
lifting in her chest
(he thinks)
too small
to take him

and he scans
over the abdominal landscape
making mental notes—
                                                            seams
between moonstone
and tundra—
too high for vegetation
nibbling
with his lips
to loosen
the rings
the rubbery
rift
