The Next Night

.
The bust
of a thin
young
woman

wearing a peach
silk
scarf
tied
on her neck
trailing down
covering her breast

her new skin shoulders
untouched

incomplete
as a child

he can’t see her
below the waist
and the features
of her face
are                                        barely   set

she has appeared

                                                            out of the roman     ruins

just an image
in this shady
uniform

                                             unoccupied sky

this blanketed     sleep
waiting uneasily
to experience

                                                         Egairia’s absence
.
