A Common Thread

.…the uneasy hunger
rests filmy
on the day

ruined estate
cattail and sapling revival
                                      Pahn and        Ahnjehlia
sit Fishing
from the gray pond
sniffing the overcast

by the creek
a man walks
               snickering fish

Pahn and Ahnjehlia thread
their gentle supplications
             nylon lines and thimbles
and sew in
small    dangling        goldfish
that grow
as they are cooked
even larger
as they are skinned
of their red

And Pahn and Ahnjehlia eat
their cloth

of white filets
