Delphina

.…out of another dream
Pahn hikes
across a field of stones
and weeds

                            seeing a young woman
        blond
and bending

                   facing away
he has a sense of recognition

She rises and turns
toward him
like a discus thrower
holding a raven

                                 in her palm

Calling Pahn’s name

Saying
“Do you want a raven?

             He’s not shiny and new
                and he doesn’t talk
                                                     like a magpie”

She throws the raven

                                                                                into the air

                                                         wings turning to patches

                                                                   of black and white
