Tending an Oread

.
Thinking
of an Oread they know
how quiet
and inaccessible
working
around her pine
checking
the drippers
to see that she is
getting water

Pahn finds
that his son
has befriended hers—

encircling her tree
they are relaxing
attached with tubes
covered in pine straw

And seeing them there
she is drawn
from her tree
consolidating
from the sparse
and wispy twigs

Her reluctance fading
with Pahn’s welcome
she takes his hand
to walk
and converse
in this garden—
A whole
and solid woman

connected
by his warm and
strong grasp
.
